Chicago, Illinois
Mother Alberta Brown was born July 14, 1938 in Sturgis, Mississippi to the union of Buster and Daisy Brown, both preceded her in death. Mother Brown's original name was Cecilia Francis but she changed it to Alberta because one of her Aunts (Nat) always called her Alberta.
Mother Brown moved to Clarksdale, MS, with her parents, accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1964, Mother Brown moved to Chicago, Illinois where she became a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev. David Coleman is Pastor and served as Recording Secretary. In 2004, Mother Brown joined New Beginnings Church and served as Church Clerk and Mother.
Born to Mother Brown were three sons. The oldest son, Larry, preceded her in death. She always said she wanted five boys. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was known as to be a mother to many children in the community and church. She had a smile that would warm your heart.
Mother Brown made her transition to be with her heavenly family on June 17, 2019 at 12:20 P.M.
Prior to her demise, she was upbeat, positive, loved to talk, and still had that gift of a million dollar smile, and a whimsical, humorous wisdom to share. Though her body was waning, she was a joy to be around and her spirit uplifted us all, even in her last days.
