Johnny Foster

–

Chicago, Illinois

In Sunflower County, MS, on June 10, 1938, Johnny Foster was the third child born to the union of Alexander (aka "buddy") Foster and Minerva (aka "Obay") Ellis Foster Payton.
He was affectionately known as "John", "Pop", "Dad", "Big G", "G-Dad", "Granddad", "Foster", "DB" and "Doll Baby." He qas a family man and had so much love, particularly for the kids.
Always desiring to help, he sought ways to assist others with their problems, even without being asked. He was a Master Receiver and self-taught Roofing Contractor for many years; and also attended Dawson Technical Institute to learn the Carpentry Trade.
On a daily basis, his many tools were used to conquer what appeared to be insurmountable tasks. He had a burning passion for reading, writing, music and especially for playing his guitar. Had you been in his presence long enough, he would have immediately initiated a philosophical conversation. If it was believed that he could motivate, inspire and/or help you, he was all in!
One of his favorite quotes that he used quite often... while navigating his way through life was, "Where would the world be without cooperation?" and he lived that!
He was raised on a farm by his maternal grandparents, Derrick Ellis and Elizabeth Patterson Ellis, who both preceded him in death. His parents, two brothers: Leon Foster and Leo Foster; and one sister, Lizzie Mae (Albert) Rash also preceded him in death.
